The Siyah/Beyaz Art Gallery was founded in 1984 by Faruk Sade, an architect by profession.
Faruk believes that the gallery has developed a signature of its own and , inevitably, a style of contemporary art that it is associated with. The Gallery has been active in supporting the young generation of Turkish artists through shows and awards and has provided a friendly and welcoming space in the heart of Ankara.
The Gallery has just celebrated it's 15th anniversary and the anniversary exhibition opening night was a "Who's who" of contemporary art. The 1998-99 season has focused on women artists in Turkey with some well-attended and received shows.
In the words of Faruk Bey, "With the devotion of artists and friends, with whose support the Gallery has become a living and breathing space, we have achieved some firsts which cannot be ignored. Taking small steps with an enthusistic amateur spirit we have worked hard toi become an institution."
