Meltem Yeşim Gözükara : 26th May - 14th June
Born in Paris in 1967 she completed her primary and secondary education in Ankara, graduating in Food Engineering from METU university in 1990. In the same year she moved to Australia with her husband and obtained Masters Degrees from Sinburne Technical University (1992) and the University of Melbourne (1999). She currently works for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Manufacturing Science and Technology as a research analyst.
Gözükara's passion for painting started when she was very young. She got her first lessons from Osman Oral at the State Fine Arts Gallery between 1978-89. She won several awards from children's painting contests. She continued to take drawing, watercolour and oil painting lessons from Vural Yurdakul, again at the State Fine Arts Gallery.
Gözükara devoted more time to painting after moving to Australia. She studied watercolour under the supervision of Derek Pierce, Dieter Prussner and Alan Rawady, studied life drawing with Charles Faruggia amd colour balance and composition with Carol Boothman, She has concentrated on contemporary watercolour techniques since 1994 with Anthony Sum
She prefers to interpret realist objects with spontaneity within abstract compositions with flowing and dynamic colours, surfaces and forms.
Her workds are in several personal and corporate collections in Turkey, USA and Australia.
